 Hi. I'm Lance Rubin.

I'm a writer living in Brooklyn. I can't walk by a stack of books on a stoop or on the sidewalk without stopping to look at them (much to my wife's chagrin). It doesn't even matter if it looks like it's a stack of outdated textbooks from 1954. Because what if some gem I've been wanting to read for years is tucked into that pile? I can't just walk right by it! You know? Right?

Did you enjoy that anecdote? It was an effort to make this bio seem fresh and spontaneous and less "by-the-book."

Anyway.

I used to be mainly an actor, performing in musicals written by Joe Iconis, and  co-writing and performing The Lance and Ray Show with Ray Munoz at the UCB Theatre, and guest-starring on NBC's Mercy as a patient with a naked sleepwalking problem, amongst many other things. But now I've switched gears and I'm so happy to be writing YA novels and MG novels and musicals and stupid songs and regularly meeting inspiring teenagers at schools and festivals across the country.

Other things I love include: empathy, democracy, and the NY Knicks.

Nothing makes me happier than hearing from readers, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you're so inspired. I will always respond! (Though it may take a little time. I'm slow.)

Thanks for being here! Have fun exploring. And sign up for my weekly newsletter, Slow Dopamine!
